Walmart – The Biggest Fast Moving Consumer Goods Brand in America

If you thought the biggest consumer good brand in the United States was something like Coke or Ford, you’re mistaken. It’s America’s very own Wal-mart with over 4100 stores across the US. More than 5000 stock-keeping units are sold under the Great Value label, it is the biggest grocery brand in the US by both sales and volume.

The one thing that has failed to make it’s  mark on Walmart’s astonishing list of achievements is it’s own label, which the Giant has vowed to re-vamp and revitalize it’s in-house brand. The walmart label is carried on more than 100 categories, including bread, canned food and light bulbs. Wal-Mart’s Great Value Range boasts of prices around half those of national brand equivalents. Senior vice-president Andrea Thomas states that newly launched Great Value items will not receive more prominent shelf space inside Wal-Mart’s stores, but will earn their position just like the branded stuff.
